U.S. Weather Alert: Autumn Equinox Arrives Monday Afternoon

Little Rock, AR – Residents across Arkansas and the rest of the United States will officially step into fall next week as the Autumnal Equinox takes place on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 1:19 PM CDT, according to the National Weather Service.

The equinox occurs when the sun shines directly over the equator, creating nearly equal hours of daylight and nighttime across the globe. According to forecasters, the earth’s axis is not tilted toward or away from the sun during this moment, producing one of only two days each year with balanced day and night.
