LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KATV) — The Mosaic Templars Cultural Center in Little Rock is set to honor the life of Emmett Till and the courage of his mother, Mamie Till Mobley, with a new exhibition. Titled “Emmett Till and Mamie Till Mobley: Let the World See,” the free national touring exhibition opens Thursday and will run from Oct. 2 through January.
The exhibit, created by the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, delves into Till’s life, his brutal murder in Mississippi 70 years ago, and how his mother’s actions, including the decision to display photos from his open casket funeral, helped ignite the modern Civil Rights Movement. It features photographs, oral histories, and interactive displays.
“What was supposed to be an exciting, adventurous summer turned into a tumultuous fight for justice for a mother who lost her son tragically that summer,” said Key Fletcher, Executive Director at Mosaic Templars. “The exhibit shares the history, the turmoil, and the refusal of a mom to be denied the right to share her son’s story.”…
