Arkansas now has 110,761 registered medical marijuana patients, according to a recent update by the Department of Health.
Voters approved the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment, known as Issue 6, in November 2016. The law created a statewide program allowing qualified patients with a physician’s recommendation to purchase and use medical marijuana. After a lengthy regulatory rollout, the state’s first dispensary opened in Hot Springs in May 2019.
Since then, the program has seen steady growth. As of September, Arkansas had reported nearly $200 million in medical marijuana sales for 2025, with total sales since launch surpassing $1.5 billion.
