Affordable Care Act hikes set to impact 166,000-plus Arkansans

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A combination of rate hikes and the potential loss of federal subsidies has left more than 166,000 Arkansans facing a substantial increase in their Affordable Care Act coverage.

The Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare, was enacted in 2010 and implemented in 2014. Arkansan enrollment in the program remained relatively stable until 2021 at roughly 70,000 on average, when it began climbing to its current rate of 166,639 individual enrollees, according to KFF data drawn from government resources.
