City of LR relaunches ‘Little Rock Cares’ to support families during SNAP shutdown

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — As the federal shutdown continues to impact thousands of Arkansas families, the City of Little Rock is stepping up with renewed local aid. Mayor Frank Scott Jr. announced Friday that the city is relaunching its Little Rock Cares program: a community-driven effort designed to support residents struggling with the suspension of federal SNAP benefits.

The program, created during the COVID-19 pandemic, will once again collect tax-deductible donations at littlerock.gov/LRcares.

Funds will be used to purchase discounted grocery gift cards through a partnership with Food Giant, which will then be distributed to families in need through local food banks and partner organizations…
