Arkansas disposes of over 26,000 pounds of unwanted prescription drugs

The Arkansas State Police and Arkansas National Guard have safely disposed of more than 26,000 pounds of expired and unwanted prescription medications collected during the Arkansas Drug Take Back event on October 25.

Troopers and National Guard soldiers consolidated the medications at ASP Troop A Headquarters in Little Rock before transporting them to Clean Harbors in El Dorado for safe incineration.

“Reducing the risk of prescription drug misuse begins at home,” said Colonel Mike Hagar, Director of the Arkansas State Police. “This initiative shows the power of law enforcement and community working together to keep Arkansas safer.”…
