LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Officials with the Little Rock Compassion Center said they are seeing an increase amid the government shutdown and dropping temperatures.
As the community deals with the effects of the government shutdown, including changes to SNAP, officials said older people are looking to the shelter for help.
“What we see is more older folks coming in for food and a warm place to rest,” Executive director and pastor William Holloway said. “With the delay and reduction in government SNAP payments, many of our seniors on low-fixed income from Social Security are suffering.”…
