Little Rock police chief teams up with faith leaders in a campaign to reduce crime

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – In an effort to reduce crime, drug use, and drug trafficking, Little Rock Police Chief Heath Helton joined religious leaders on Sunday. They argued that the campaign should begin in local churches and neighborhoods.

Helton’s speech was part of Greater New Freedom Baptist Church’s monthly community safety initiative. According to Pastor Eric Crowder-Jones, when neighbors band together and don’t keep quiet, real change can start.

“We become silent until it hits our doorstep, until it affects someone in our family,” Crowder-Jones said. “It takes a village, and… we all have to become engaged in order to rally.”…
