LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — Pulaski County Judge Barry Hyde has officially proclaimed Nov. 21 as National Adoption Day, a milestone moment in Arkansas’ ongoing effort to find permanent homes for children in foster care.
The declaration comes as nearly 180 children in the state are still waiting for their forever families — a number advocates say has improved significantly over the past decade.
When the nonprofit Project Zero launched in 2011, Arkansas had more than 500 children waiting to be adopted.
