Experts warn of risks as Arkansas sees rise in whooping cough

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The state of Arkansas has seen a significant increase in whooping cough cases, with doctors saying that the concern is the vaccine rate.

This is happening at the same time that the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices voted Friday to overturn a previous recommendation for hepatitis B vaccines for newborns.

There are just under 490 whooping cough cases in the state, and one death has been associated with the virus…
