ARKANSAS — Authorities say an Arkansas mother orchestrated a staged kidnapping involving her mentally disabled 22-year-old daughter, enlisting three other people to carry out the plan in what investigators described as an alarming and dangerous “lesson.”
Mother Allegedly Planned Fake Abduction
According to police reports, Tamara “Tammi” Hamby, a former member of the Crawford County Library Board, turned herself in after investigators uncovered the staged abduction plot. Authorities said Hamby arranged for three individuals to forcibly take her daughter in an attempt to “teach her a lesson,” though officials did not elaborate on the specific motivation behind the plan.
Police stated the daughter believed the kidnapping was real and was terrified throughout the ordeal.
Three Additional Suspects Also Taken Into Custody
Investigators say Hamby coordinated the incident with three accomplices, each now facing charges related to the false kidnapping. Mugshots released by the Crawford County Jail show the group accused of participating in forcibly detaining the young woman as part of the manufactured abduction.
