I-TEAM: Arkansas daycare assistance changes overwhelm providers, families

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – Arkansas daycare providers are facing significant cuts to assistance while parents struggle with new copayments following changes to the state’s School Readiness Assistance (SRA) Program that took effect Oct. 1.

Ready, Set and Learn daycare owners Kayla and Sylvester Adaway received shocking news from the Arkansas Office of Early Childhood (OEC) in September about major changes coming to the program.

Daycare provider rates would change, and the Sylvester’s daycare would receive less money per child. Copayments would increase for some families…
