Arkansas Among Nation’s Worst for Crashes Caused by Unlicensed Drivers

A new nationwide study examining crashes caused by unlicensed drivers places Arkansas among the states with the highest share of incidents involving drivers without a valid license, raising renewed concerns about roadway safety and enforcement.

The analysis, conducted by Dennis Hernandez Injury Attorneys, reviewed state-level crash data to determine how frequently unlicensed drivers are involved in both fatal and non-fatal crashes. According to the findings, 25 percent of all reported crashes in Arkansas involved unlicensed drivers.

In total, Arkansas recorded 2,760 crashes, with exactly one in four linked to drivers who were not legally licensed. That percentage places Arkansas near the upper tier nationally, comparable to states like Tennessee, where 25.87 percent of crashes involved unlicensed drivers, and just ahead of states such as Wisconsin and Mississippi, which both reported figures slightly below 25 percent…
