‘Buck Rogers’ actor Gil Gerard dies, Catholic High honors his legacy

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Gil Gerard came into our living rooms as the out-of-this-world Buck Rogers, but he came into the world as an Arkansan.

Gerard, best known for his role as astronaut Buck Rogers, died in hospice on Tuesday. He was 82 and had been battling a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

His alma mater, Catholic High School for Boys, said it wants him remembered for his loyalty as an alumnus, no matter where his career took him.

During his time at Catholic, Gerard played football and basketball, was a member of the drama club, and served as a mass server. He was known as a star actor, but Steve Straessle, the Head of Catholic High School for Boys says Gerard is remembered most for an act of heroism…
