Lonoke County judge rules Aaron Spencer case will move forward

LONOKE COUNTY, Ark. – Two orders were issued on Friday by the judge in the case of a man accused of murder who is running for sheriff in Lonoke County.

Circuit Judge Barbra Elmore ordered that candidate Aaron Spencer’s trial will move forward, denying his attorney’s motion for dismissal filed in August. A second ruling allows the state to use cell tower and cell site location evidence in making its case.

Man charged with murder runs for Lonoke County sheriff

Aaron Spencer is facing charges of second-degree murder in the 2024 shooting death of Michael Fosler. According to the filing, Spencer shot Fosler after spotting the man driving his daughter. Fosler, at the time, was released on bond after being accused of raping Fosler’s underage daughter in July of 2024.

In rejecting the motion to dismiss, Elmore’s half-page order said, “The Court shall not swallow the rule of Arkansas law,” that an individual may be charged through the filing of an information by a prosecutor…
