Arkansas Department of Health says no change expected for school Hepatitis B shot requirements

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Department of Health is examining its updated immunization policy, but does not expect any change to school vaccination requirements.

That decision is being made in response to a move last week by a federal agency to stop recommending the Hepatitis B shot for all newborns.

The Centers for Disease Control’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices called for doses to only be administered to newborns whose mothers had positive or unknown Hepatitis B test results…
