Mental fitness hearing set for Rogers doctor accused of fraud

PULASKI COUNTY, Arkansas — A former Northwest Arkansas psychiatrist accused of Medicaid fraud will return to court in January, when a judge will decide whether the former doctor is mentally fit to proceed with the criminal case.

Hyatt, the former head of the Arkansas State Medical Board as well as the director of the Behavioral Health Unit at Northwest Medical Center, was arrested in 2023 for two counts of Medicaid fraud, to which he pleaded not guilty. He became the director of the Northwest Medical Center Behavioral Health Unit in Springdale in January 2018.
