1823 – Large multi-tribal gathering in north Arkansas
A radio documentary on early White River history, drawing on territorial records, notes that on December 28, 1823, acting Arkansas Territory governor Robert Crittenden reported to Washington that as many as 10,000 Native Americans from several tribes had gathered at the confluence of the Big North Fork and the White River.
