Number of children waiting for foster care in Arkansas drops to 146

For children in foster care, every number represents a life—and a drop in those numbers brings hope, stability, and the chance to belong to a family.

On Wednesday, the Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS) Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS) announced that the number of children waiting for foster or adoptive families in the state fell from 178 to 146.

“It is incredibly humbling, to be honest,” said Christie Erwin, co-founder and executive director of Project Zero. “Anytime the number moves down even one, we celebrate because that’s one child or teen who is no longer waiting, who no longer wonders if they matter, who no longer wonders if they’re enough. They’re not a child in foster care—they’re a son or daughter.”…
