Arkansas mother calls for help as she battles devastating kidney disease

JUDISONIA, Ark.  — One 26-year-old mother of six in Arkansas is reaching out for the public’s help as she battles stage 5 kidney failure and waits for a transplant doctors say she urgently needs.

Jerikah Wooten was recently diagnosed with Stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease after her health has rapidly declined following the birth of her youngest child. Doctors still have not determined the exact cause of her kidney failure, but Wooten now faces a race against time as she awaits a transplant.

To find living donors for kidney transplants, a pilot program turns to social networks

Wooten has blood type O-positive, and is now trying to get on the transplant waiting list, but some medical experts say waiting for a deceased donor can take more than two years, time that she may not have.

“She wants to watch her babies grow up,” family members said. “She wants to live.”…
