Arkansas Game and Fish Commission hosts fifth annual squirrel hunting challenge

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission held its fifth annual Umarex Big Squirrel Challenge over the weekend, a statewide event designed to encourage more squirrel hunting participation.

The competition ran from Friday, Jan. 9 to Saturday, Jan. 10. Hunters could participate on private property or public ground at wildlife management areas, with a limit of 12 squirrels per day.

Participants brought their squirrels to weigh-in stations, where the competition was judged based on weight and split into categories. Hunters could compete solo or in teams.
