WYNNE, Ark. (KAIT) – Arkansas public schools have completed their first full semester under the Bell to Bell No Cell Act, which banned smartphones from classrooms. Officials report decreased disciplinary problems and improved student behavior.
The legislation, signed by Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders in 2025, went into effect at the beginning of the 2025-26 school year across all Arkansas public schools. Sanders said smartphone usage directly correlated with mental health issues among young students.
