Crews close I-40 bridge lanes for emergency repairs

CRITTENDEN COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT) – Two eastbound lanes on the Interstate 40 Mississippi River bridge closed while crews make emergency repairs to the bridge deck, the Arkansas Department of Transportation said Wednesday.

ARDOT reported the repairs and closure at 2:57 p.m. Jan. 14. The eastbound right and center lanes were closed as crews repaired the damage. Photos show a hole formed in the bridge deck that crews repaired with concrete.

ARDOT said all lanes were reopened at 3:50 p.m.

“We’re doing everything we can to reopen the eastbound right and center lanes as soon as it’s safe to do so,” ARDOT said in a Facebook post…
