The Monday night (Jan. 5) murder of 49-year old Jeffrey Atkins of England led to a week-long uptick in police vigilance and a renewed effort to focus on juvenile crime, illegal drug sales, and potential gang activity.
The suspect arrested in Atkins’ murder, after an encounter with multiple witnesses, is a minor whose name has not been disclosed. It is expected that the suspect may be charged as an adult, at which time his identity will be publicly revealed.
