Saline County Judge Matt Brumley has issued a verbal Disaster Emergency in response to ongoing hazardous winter weather impacting Saline County. The declaration allows for the availability and use of resources that may be needed to respond to the effects of dangerous weather conditions.
Pursuant to Arkansas Code Annotated § 12-75-103, Saline County is entitled to aid, relief, and emergency assistance under this Disaster Emergency. This designation enables the County to request and deploy additional resources as necessary to protect life, property, and public safety.
Despite continuous efforts by Saline County Road Department crews, first responders, and utility crews, road conditions throughout Saline County remain extremely dangerous. Freezing temperatures combined with snow, sleet, and freezing rain have created hazardous travel conditions on both primary and secondary roadways.
