1793 — A Spanish river-fleet commander reached Arkansas Post and recorded what he saw. Captain Pedro Andrés Rousseau, commander of the Spanish river fleet, arrived at Arkansas Post aboard La Flecha on February 3, 1793, and described the settlement’s houses and street layout—one of the clearer “snapshot” descriptions of the Post during Spanish control.
