AAA reports more than 2,000 Arkansas drivers aided during winter blast

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Officials with AAA report that more than 2,000 Arkansas drivers were given roadside assistance during the recent winter storms.

Officials said that between Jan. 24 – 31, approximately 2,603 drivers were assisted. This is a 35% increase over previous winter weekly averages, they said.

Professionals warn drivers to clear off snow from the top of vehicles before driving

The biggest reasons for assistance calls were battery service, general tows and vehicle extractions, officials said, with Monday, Jan. 26, being the highest volume day after most drivers spent the weekend hunkered down.

“It’s not uncommon for drivers to attempt to start their car days after the storm passes only to find the snow and cold have zapped the power from their vehicle’s battery,” spokesperson Nick Chabarria said…
