Arkansas State Police (ASP) Troop E troopers assisted the Arkansas Department of Corrections (ADC) in two separate incidents over the past month involving attempts to smuggle contraband into state prison units.

Seriously? Contraband Thrown Over Fence at Cummins Unit

Arkansas State Police Troop E troopers assisted the Arkansas Department of Corrections (ADC) in two separate incidents over the past month involving attempts to smuggle contraband into state prison units.

The first case happened on January 10 at the Cummins Unit in Lincoln County. Around 11:17 AM, troopers were notified that individuals had thrown contraband over the prison fence. ADC staff recovered marijuana, methamphetamine, K2-soaked paper, and several cell phones.

As correctional officers attempted to stop the suspects, their vehicle became stuck in a nearby field. The occupants fled on foot. Troopers responded quickly and located one suspect within minutes. The individual was taken into custody without incident and transported for charging before being held at the Lincoln County Detention Center.

Two Arrested at Tucker Unit in February Incident

The second incident occurred on February 7 at the Tucker Unit in Jefferson County. ADC patrol officers spotted a suspicious vehicle near farm fields on prison property and were able to block it before it left the area…
