LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Arkansas State Police (ASP) Director Col. Mike Hagar spoke at a legislative hearing on Feb. 18, sharing with lawmakers the latest data on pursuits and tactical vehicle interventions, or TVIs.
TVIs, also called PIT maneuvers, often involve a law enforcement officer intentionally ramming a fleeing vehicle. Proponents claim they end chases quicker and ensure an arrest, while critics say that suspects, troopers, and even civilians can be hurt or killed in the process.
