Arkansas Division of Services for the Blind worker speaks out after federal funding lapse leaves him furloughed again

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Employees at the Division of Services for the Blind are once again out of work as a lapse in federal funding continues to impact operations across Arkansas.

Gustavo Manzanales, an employee with the Division of Services for the Blind, has been out of work for nearly three weeks. He was among dozens of employees furloughed late last year and again at the end of January.

In November, 62 employees were furloughed for 10 days. After federal lawmakers passed a temporary funding measure, those workers returned. But when that funding expired on January 30, the same employees were placed on furlough again…
