The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has imposed emergency trout regulations on the White River and Norfork tailwaters, requiring catch-and-release fishing across a 45-mile stretch below Bull Shoals Dam to the Norfork Access boat ramp, as well as the entirety of the Norfork Dam tailwater.
Below the confluence of the White River and North Fork River, from the Norfork Access boat ramp to the Highway 58 bridge at Guion, anglers may keep two trout per day under normal length and daily limits, with only one trout over 14 inches. Tackle restrictions for the regular catch-and-release areas on the Bull Shoals and Rim Shoals sections of the White and the Norfork catch-and-release area still apply, requiring artificial tackle and barbless hooks.
Separately, the AGFC changed limits for the Bull Shoals tailwater between the dam and the Norfork Access effective Feb. 1. Anglers may now keep two rainbow trout daily, no longer than 14 inches, with all other trout released immediately. Below Norfork Access to Highway 58 at Guion, anglers may keep two trout of any species, but only one may exceed 14 inches. Brook trout must be at least 14 inches to keep.
