“Concerning” amount of arson fires disturbing North Little Rock community, officials say

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KATV) — There have been a concerning amount of intentionally set fires in the past few months, the North Little Rock Fire Department said in a post to their Facebook page.

In the post, fire officials say that there have been more than 16 fires in the Rose City region alone since May 2025. They also said that multiple homes have been targeted more than once.

Firefighters say that many of these recent fires share similar characteristics:

  • They are in homes that are unoccupied at the time. Some are being renovated, some are boarded up, and others are just not lived.
  • Many fires start the same way: outside near a wall or just inside a broken window or doorway.
  • Police have confirmed that ignitable liquids were used in some cases.
  • Many fires do not seem to have been caused accidentally.

“These fires needlessly place the community and our firefighters at risk. Structure fires are dangerous under any circumstance. When a fire is intentionally set, those risks increase significantly,” fire officials said in the post. “Beyond the immediate damage, intentionally set fires drive up insurance costs, hurt property values, discourage investment, and impact the entire neighborhood. Most importantly keeps our firefighters from responding to other real emergencies. This affects everyone.”…
