Community march in Little Rock honors anniversary of Bloody Sunday

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Community members gathered Sunday in Little Rock to commemorate the 61st anniversary of Bloody Sunday, which was a key event in the Civil Rights Movement when state troopers attacked peaceful marchers in Selma, Alabama, who were demanding voting rights.

The NAACP chapter in Little Rock organized the event, which included a march across the Broadway Bridge to Little Rock City Hall with the theme “A Bridge to Justice.” Participants thought about the sacrifices made by civil rights activists in 1965 and how important it is to protect voting rights now.
