Son of ex-Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson faces potential disbarment

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A special judge will hold a hearing on March 18 to decide whether William Asa Hutchinson III, son of former Arkansas governor Asa Hutchinson, should lose his license to practice law following guilty pleas to drug possession and second-offense driving while intoxicated.

Special Justice Barbara Halsey, appointed by the Arkansas Supreme Court, determined there is sufficient evidence of professional misconduct to move forward with the proceedings.

Hutchinson, 50, has been licensed to practice law in Arkansas since 2001.

Details of the arrest

On Jan. 13, 2023, Benton County deputies stopped Hutchinson after recording his vehicle traveling 71 mph in a 45-mph zone.
