March 18, 1838 — Cherokee “Trail of Tears” detachment in Arkansas. A National Park Service–sourced timeline used by Arkansas Heritage notes that one Cherokee detachment (under Lt. Edward Deas) reached Arkansas during the removal period, with the timeline placing the group in Arkansas on March 18, 1838.
