Little Rock TV station documents Cave City’s recovery one year after tornado

Little Rock television station KATV traveled to Sharp County this week to assess the recovery of Cave City one year after an EF-3 tornado caused widespread destruction across the community.

The tornado was part of an outbreak that killed three people in neighboring Independence County. No fatalities were reported in Cave City, though the storm destroyed 25 homes and damaged or demolished 20 businesses, including the town’s only grocery store, a pharmacy, a funeral home, and a dentist’s office.

KATV’s report found recovery progressing across the community. Hometown Market, the town’s only grocery store, has reopened following repairs. Walling Drug, whose original location was destroyed, is nearing completion of a new permanent facility. Some homeowners have completed rebuilding; others remain in progress…
