Little Rock’s Mobile Market gives access to groceries for food insecure communities

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock held a grand opening for the Mobile Market, which was an effort led by the city, the Little Rock Food Commission, and the University District Development Corporation in partnership with University of Arkansas at Little Rock to create more grocery access to all neighborhoods.

One of the leaders on this project was the executive director of the University District Development Corporation, Barrett Allen, who explained the idea behind it.

“It’s one thing to get the groceries to people that are transportation challenged and have other issues if they’re living in food deserts, but it’s another thing if we show up with a bunch of groceries and they’re still priced out of the market. So, we’re going to be below some of those other chains,” Allen said…
