Little Rock mayor to speak at UAPB graduation

Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott Jr. has been named the speaker for the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff’s spring commencement May 9 at the Pine Bluff Convention Center.

The academic procession will begin at 9:45 a.m., with the 173rd commencement exercises in school history to follow. A clear bag policy will be in effect.

Scott began his second term as Little Rock’s 73rd mayor on Jan. 1, 2023, and has seen more than 8,000 jobs created, a population that has grown to more than 203,000, and new developments including Trex, Trader Joe’s, Fiocchi and Topgolf, according to a news release. The city established a chief education officer and implemented a Community Schools model in six Little Rock School District campuses under Scott.
