Family of Arkansas woman killed in 2021 crash to receive $2.3M from DHS

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The family of a Logan County woman is set to receive more than $2 million to settle claims connected to a 2021 fatal crash involving an Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS) employee.

On June 11, 2021, Jacqueline Lynn Ashcraft, of Paris, was involved in a crash on Highway 22, where her vehicle was struck from behind by a DHS employee driving a work-issued vehicle. Court documents say Ashcraft died later that day at a hospital in Fort Smith.

It was later revealed in documents that the DHS employee tested positive for amphetamines following the crash and was “beyond the scope of her employment at the time of the accident.”
