Multiple Denver metro cities, counties on accident alert Saturday

DENVER (KDVR) — Several police agencies across the Denver metro area are on accident alert Saturday as snow fell across the Front Range.

Police departments will go on accident alert when dispatchers receive enough calls reporting car crashes, especially during winter weather conditions.

Typically, an accident alert means that police are asking the public to avoid calling 911 for car crashes and accidents if no one involved is injured.

In that case, police ask the involved parties to exchange information, report the incident to insurance, and file a police report later.

That being said, if one party cannot produce proof of insurance, police recommend calling 911.
