Denver may let migrants work as police officers, firefighters: ‘Make us a better agency’

DENVER (TND) – Denver City Council members reportedly proposed allowing migrants to work as police officers and firefighters Monday. Denver City Council President Jamie Torres and Councilmember Amanda Sandoval suggested removing language from Denver’s charter prohibiting the city’s police and fire departments from hiring noncitizens. Immigrants with work authorization would be able to receive employment offers from the agencies.
