Denver residents can expect a chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.
Expect highs near 68 with southwest winds between 8 to 13 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 24 mph with a chance of precipitation at 80%.
“Scattered showers along with a few afternoon thunderstorms can be expected,” the NWS said. “Small hail and gusty winds may accompany a few of the storms. Otherwise, it will windy across the plains this afternoon. Snow will increase in the mountains later tonight, with light to moderate rainfall developing across the plains.”
For Friday night expect showers and possibly a thunderstorm, with a low around 40. East northeast wind 5 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
“A strong spring storm system will move across Colorado Saturday bringing widespread rain and mountain snow,” the NWS said. “The snow level is expected to fall to 7000 to 8000 feet. Travel into the higher foothills and mountains will likely be very difficult with 1 to 3 feet of snow expected, with the heavier amounts expected to be in the northern mountains.”
