Driver arrested for traveling 68 miles per hour over speed limit in Colorado

It’s no secret at speeding is a relatively common problem on Colorado’s roads – and a recent incident put that issue on full display.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, a driver was arrested for traveling 113 miles per hour on a road with a 45 MPH speed limit – 68 miles per hour over what’s legal.

The incident took place in the area of S. Chambers Road and Cosmopolitan Circle in Stonegate, with the driver taken into custody on a reckless driving charge as a result. At the time he was pulled over, his plate was also long-expired with its registration running out in November of 2021.

“Why would someone need to go this fast? He can explain that to the judge,” commented law enforcement about the case.

The vehicle involved was a gray Nissan sports car, which was towed from the scene.

Oddly enough, 113 miles per hour is also the speed that an out-of-stater was traveling when he was pulled over while entering Boulder in recent days. The speed limit in that instance was 65 miles per hour. While that driver received a reckless driving charge, too, reports indicate that he wasn’t arrested.
