Alleged armed suspect injured after shots fired by Littleton officer

DENVER ( KDVR ) — A reportedly armed suspect was taken to the hospital after a Littleton officer fired their weapon.

The Littleton Police Department posted on X that at around 3 a.m. Tuesday, an officer attempted to make a traffic stop of a speeding car at West Belleview Avenue and Keenland Court on the boundary between Littleton and Englewood.

When the officer initiated the stop, police said the suspect left the vehicle and allegedly pointed a weapon. The officer then fired their weapon.

Littleton police said the suspect was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. Police have not identified the suspect.

The officer was not injured.

Little information about the investigation has been released. However, Littleton police said there is still a heavy police presence near West Belleview Avenue and Keenland Court and people are asked to stay away from the area.
