DENVER ( KDVR ) — A 64-year-old driver was arrested Monday after Westminster police officers attempted a traffic stop and he fled.
The Westminster Police Department said Monday on Facebook that the driver was weaving in and out of traffic lanes near 93rd Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard early Monday morning and was not maintaining a consistent speed. He managed to elude officers, but the vehicle, a black RAM 2500 pickup truck, was spotted getting onto U.S. 36 near Church Ranch Boulevard.
Police pursued the vehicle, and managed to stop the vehicle on Interstate 25 just south of U.S. 36 after deploying tire deflation sticks. The sticks caused the vehicle’s tires to deflate, and the driver eventually found himself driving on three rims at slow speeds.
Officers took the 64-year-old driver into custody and booked him into the Jefferson County Jail for charges that included vehicular eluding and driving under the influence. He was not identified and a full list of possible charges was not provided.
