Douglas County, Aurora, Cherry Creek school districts among Wednesday delays: Full list

DENVER (KDVR) — Students in the southern portion of the Denver metro area will see delayed school start times on Wednesday due to a snowstorm and frigid air moving through the region.

Winter weather advisories are in effect from 2 p.m. Tuesday through 11 a.m. Wednesday, stretching from the foothill communities of Colorado into Kansas and Nebraska. The Pinpoint Weather Team is forecasting the majority of this two-day storm’s impact will arrive late Tuesday and continue overnight.

Snow is expected to begin to taper off on Wednesday morning, so the 60-minute delayed start for Cherry Creek elementary schools and the 90-minute delay for the district’s middle school and high school students could allow enough time for the roads to be cleared and allow temperatures to rise just a bit.

However, temperatures are expected to not rise much further than the teens on Wednesday, and overnight lows could be in the negatives before rising back to above freezing again on Thursday. Windchill temperatures were even colder…
