Federal layoffs hit Colorado’s Veteran Affairs system, leaving veterans worried

DENVER ( KDVR ) — Layoffs of federal workers continue to hit different areas of the government, and they are now impacting Colorado, with cuts hitting the Veteran Affairs system in the state.

The federal government will not say much about the nature of the layoffs, but the VA system in Colorado did confirm layoffs are happening. Veterans in the state are worried.

Richard Nagley, president of the Veterans Coalition of the San Luis Valley, worries that a system that already sees problems issuing care in a timely manner could see more delays with newly confirmed layoffs in Colorado.

“The first thing we see is that patient advocates have been deemed as not necessary and several have already received their notices,” Nagley said…
