More big snow likely in Colorado, including ‘risk of heavy snow’ over 7-day stretch

While the storm that prompted widespread winter weather alerts this week – including a Blizzard Warning along the Eastern Plains and in El Paso County – mostly fizzled out as it hit major metro areas, more chances of fresh powder are on the horizon for Colorado.

Forecasts currently indicate that another storm should roll through parts of the state from Wednesday through early Saturday, favoring southwest and southern Colorado peaks. That said, a second storm is expected to bring potential big snow shortly after that.

The first storm, expected to stretch from March 5 through March 8, should bring snowfall that’s mostly restricted to the mountains, though some limited snow could fall along the Front Range on Thursday and Friday. According to OpenSnow , Silverton and Wolf Creek could get 21 and 20 inches through Saturday, respectively, with Steamboat having potential for 17.
