(COLORADO) — Xcel Energy submitted its proposed quarterly fuel price adjustments to the Public Utilities Commission. The new adjustments would result in an increase in energy and natural gas rates.
Every three months, Xcel Energy proposes rate adjustments so fuel costs are recovered from customers on a dollar-for-dollar basis. Xcel Energy said it does not profit from fuel cost recovery.
According to Xcel Energy, the increases reflect the current commodity price of natural gas, which impacts natural gas and electric services. The quarterly Gas Cost Adjustment would result in an average monthly increase of $2.64, or 6.5% for residential customers.
