DENVER ( KDVR ) — A 41-year-old Aurora woman was found guilty by a federal jury in Oklahoma on Tuesday after allegedly using a dead person’s identity to cash checks.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Oklahoma, Sarai Jamila Nyasha Freeman was found guilty of two counts of passing and uttering counterfeit obligations and securities, two counts of aggravated identity theft and one count of failure to appear.

The failure to appear charge was leveled after Freeman was provided an airline ticket to appear for trial in Oklahoma in December. She failed to appear the day the trial was set and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
